NorthLink Ferries is now seeking applications for £50,000 of free travel and discounted fares as part of its annual sponsorship for islanders.

The ferry company wants individuals, charities, sporting groups or musicians in the north isles to make the most of the offer, which runs from October to March 2008.

NorthLink marketing manager Elaine Tulloch said: "Since day one, NorthLink has been committed to playing an active part within the local communities that we serve.

"We are proud sponsors of a variety of individuals and causes that we hope will enrich the islands' social, cultural and sporting life.

"Our sponsorship programme is immensely popular and we look forward to being inundated with applications for sponsorship within this next tranche."
