Integrated at GRUPO CONTENEMAR - national leader of the maritime containers transport and auxiliary activities of the trasport of goods - , its activities is centered on the maritime containers traffic, wheeled cargo and vehicles between the mainland, the Balearic Islands and the inter-islands routes.

On 1998, ISCOMAR decides to increase its activities, and offer passengers lines, setting the ISCOMAR division. In that year begin the Alcudia (Mallorca) – Ciutadella (Menorca)line, for passengers, vehicles and self-propelled cargo.

Continuing with its growing and due to the success of its first passenger line, on 2002 ISCOMAR decide to present other two passenger lines, vehicles and self-propelled cargo: Barcelona-Palma de Mallorca and Denia-Ibiza-Palma de Mallorca. Lately, in 2004 starts another new line with the same characteristics between the ports Valencia-Palma de Mallorca.

In 2005 ISCOMAR takes a step beyond, and decides to open a new fast line between Ibiza-Formentera only for passengers and vehicles. For this new line acquires the fast ferry called "Pitiusa Nova", continuing with its growth plans for the passengers transport. In the same year 2005 ISCOMAR opens as well other new routes of passengers and self-propelled wheeled cargo: Barcelona-Ibiza and Barcelona-Mahón, as well as a weekly trip in the line Valencia-Mahón.

The last incorporation to the Iscomar fleet has been the superferry Blanca del Mar. This ship, which has all comforts, started operations in february of 2006 and has capacity for 2.000 lineal meters of cargo and 365 passengers.

Future challenges include extending and consolidating the lines for passengers between the mainland and the Balearic Islands. In the cargo scope, to extend the lines with other Mediterranean ports of Europe/Africa, just as it already started during year 2004, extending the regular cargo lines, that connect the ports of Barcelona and Valencia with Algiers (Algeria) until the port of Oran.

Iscomar fleet is made up by 5 passenger and self-propelled wheeled cargo ships (Nura Nova, Patricia del Mar, Carmen del Mar, Mercedes del Mar and Blanca del Mar), a fast ferry for passengers (Pitiusa Nova) and two roll-on cargo ships (Don Pedro and Don Fernando).
